UGH!!

•April 22, 2008 • 1 Comment

I’m so frustrated. Tired. Tired of being the only one that tries. The only one that cares. I guess my problem is that I care too much. In the end I’m always disappointed because no one has ever cared enough back in my direction. It is exhausting.

There must be something inherently wrong with me that I think it should be a natural response to just always care about other people. No matter how much I try to do things for other people, thinking that I am showing them how much I really care about them, it always backfires. Not that I am doing things only to get a response back, but after years and years of being that kind of person it would have been nice if just 1 day - 1 person would have reciprocated. Anything.

Homecoming ‘07

Syd’s first homecoming. We made his Mum. pretty good for a first time don’t you think? He bought ours. This is Mikey. He’s very nice, quiet, respectful and fully aware that syd’s dad is “tough shit”. This is Football Game night.

The next night was the dance. Everyone said it would be boring but she had to find out for herself. And well.. let’s just say that next year she’ll probably just go out to dinner or something. But they look cute, don’t they?

We finally got the cast off. It was three looong weeks. She did very well, though. Never really complained. She still has to be careful and act like it’s still there which means no heavy activity for three more weeks, but at least she can take a bathtub now (very important stuff to a five year old). Oh and do this too…

An Apple a Day…

Went to Henrietta Creek Apple Orchard yesterday with Gracie and her class.

Met Johnny Appleseed, who doesn’t wear shoes..

 cimg3588.JPG

and the lady who taught us how they produce the cotton

cimg3591.JPG

First she said she sends all of her 13 kids into the field to pick the cotton buds (cheap labor), then they separate the cotton from the pod thingy (yes that is the technical term)

cimg3592.JPG

then you stretch the cotton

cimg3593.JPG

then you attach it to the spool

 cimg3594.JPG

I don’t see the big deal. It looks easy enough to me. She said it only takes 19 hours to make a man’s shirt for Bob’s sake.

Then we picked our apples

cimg3606.JPG

and enjoyed the scenery

Of course I had to buy some homemade apple bread (2), which is sinful; some pumpkin bread (2), apple butter, and apricot spread. Just tryin to support the farm, you know.

What are you worth?

I had a mini meltdown this morning and it wasn’t even 8 o’clock yet.  Promises of more to come. Yeah me!

Monday mornings are never good for us. Everyone is always exhausted, hard to get up..i.e. cranky as shit. I wasn’t at work for two hours before i get a call from the elementary school saying that Gracie had fallen off the monkey bars and probably broken her elbow. The nurse suggested an x-ray. So off I go to pick her up and when i get there, it wasn’t Gracie I see, but my baby, my 5 year old. Riley. Well the minute she saw me she fell apart. I carried her to the car and off to Cook Children’s we were. Got the x-ray and sure enough it was broken, although I guess if you can have a “good” break, this was one of them. Sure. Clean, all the way through, not jagged or sticking out. They gave her a  temporary cast

cimg3497.jpg

and sent us home to keep it elevated for the next two days. She’s done quite well with it, i have to say. Seeing as we have never had a broken bone in our family before, I’m guessing they can be a lot worse. She only seems to complain if the Ibuprofen wears off. It certainly hasn’t slowed her down, or kept her from talking non-stop. D.A.M.N.I.T.

Monday night was the curriculum night at the high school which consists of literally running to a class, sit down, teacher spews out nonsense in 25 seconds, bell rings, run to next class half a mile away, repeat 8 times.

I can’t even remember what i did Tuesday, oh wait, yes. Spent the evening with family that is in town.

Yesterday we went back to the orthopedic doc’s office and they re-x-rayed the arm. Notice the “stripes”?? These pissed her off.

cimg3498.jpg

Looks better than first x-ray but still definatly broke. Hot pink cast to follow.

cimg3499.jpg

See ya in 8 more *night times* for a re-xray. Home for help with homework, dinner and all my “WOTH” chores I haven’t got to lately. That’s Woman Of The House to all you undomesticated goddesses.

Still behind. Can’t seem to catch up this week and it frustrates  me to no end, when I am home and looking at this filthy mess and I can’t hardly make a dent in it. I can’t ask for help either because everyone is loaded down with home work. Whatever!

Tonight won’t be any better.

6:15 Kindergarten Curriculum night.

7:15 1st grade curriculum night.

7-8:30 6th grade curriculum night at different school.

Figure that one out. Can’t show up late for the 6th grade thing cuz it’s another “run from class to class but stay on schedule” one. And if you miss one teacher, you miss the information. So I’ll probably go to the kindergarten one, skip 1st grade and have her send home all the papers, and high tail it over to the middle school for the 6th grade night.

I’m feeling very frustrated, flustered, I keep thinking I’m forgetting something, i can’t seem to get anything done to show any progress, yet still everyone has to ask me a question at the exact same time and then get furious at me for not being able to be in 5 different places all at once.
